Thomas Campbell, AIA
Thomas Campbell is an architectural designer from Atlanta, Georgia. With a passion for travel and new experience, Thomas was abroad from Georgia for 9 years, studying design at a university or working towards his architectural license under different apprenticeships across the country.
Thomas graduated in 2013 with his Masters in Architecture from Clemson University and there architectural division at the Universitat de Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain. He also holds a duel Business Degree from Wofford College which allows him to understand the economic considerations of design that play a large role in client and community relations. During his studies at Clemson University, Thomas participated in its digital fabrications and enrolled in their graduate Design/Build Studio which since has grown and gained national recognition for their work and positive impact on surrounding communities. This studio particularly impacted Thomas during his education and since has acquired a strong passion and apprectiation for not only the design but the construction elements of his projects. After working and living in Georgia, South Carolina, and Alabama, during his summer apprenticeships while at Clemson University, he took off to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to begin his profession career of design. Here in the snowy unforgiving rocky mountains, Thomas was given the opportunity to work closely with clients on small commercial and residential projects with Gilday Architects, a highly respected and established firm in the Jackson Hole community for over 20 years. Through his passion for preserving the natural environment and creative human design solutions, Thomas was able experience and create this relationship in one of the wildest, pristene places in North America.
Returning to the dense urban fabric of Atlanta Georgia, Thomas's design focus is on creating public and private spaces that bridge this gap to the natural environment for the urban city dwellers. Understanding the necessity of this gap and its positive impacts on a community, Thomas offers a unique design perspective on this relationship. Having a deep appreciation for his southern culture and its unique aesthetic, Thomas pursues to recreate this beauty through new building techniques and materials.
